Redirection Tracking
This feature is designed to help your business track ad, email and other organic clicks in cases where you can not embed the Universal script on your landing page.
A common example where this happens is when lead-gen businesses direct leads to a lead form page where our universal script can’t be added to.
Typically this would break tracking, but we can use a redirect to work around this and track any source clicks.
For example, if we are redirecting our ad traffic to https://www.hyros.com/optin, but we’re not able to add our universal script to this page, then we would need to add a redirect. We’ll do this in 4 steps:
Step 1 – Create the Redirect Link in Hyros
Go inside Hyros and go to tracking, find “redirection tracking” and then click new redirection as shown here:
Then you can input details for the redirect as shown below:
The name can be whatever you like.
The “original URL” must be the landing page which you are sending leads to, which is not being tracked by a Hyros. This will be where leads end up after the redirect.
The script domain should match exactly with the Hyros universal script domain that you are using for the rest of your funnel.
If you have created a custom domain for your account and you are using this to track the rest of your business, please select the same custom domain. If you do not use the same domain as you are using on the rest of the funnel tracking will not work correctly. If you’re just using the default script, then select default.
IF YOU ARE USING THIS FOR GOOGLE ADS – please toggle on “Generate a Google Ads Compliant Link” before generating the redirect link as shown below:
Click on add redirection mapping. As you’ll see, we have generated a new redirection url here which you can copy:
Step 2 – Adding the Redirect URL to your Ads and Organic/Email Sources.
Copy the redirection URL, then we want to add this redirection URL as the final URL that we are pointing leads to in our ads, email or other organic sources.
So for example, if you want to track a Facebook ad sending leads to this opt in page, then add the redirect URL as the URL to send leads to after they click on the call to action button here:
The process may vary slightly for each different ad platform or source, but you need to do the same thing for any source where you are sending leads to a landing page which is not trackable with our universal script.
Step 3 – Add the Hyros UTM Tracking Parameters
Then add the appropriate parameters depending on what you are tracking, this could be directly at the end of the redirect link you have inserted, or via an extra “UTM parameter” field or similar depending on the specific source you are trying to track.
Please check the appropriate Hyros documentation depending on the source you are trying to track.
So for example, in the case of a Facebook ad as per the example above, we would simply add the standard ad tracking parameters in exactly the same way advised HERE.
Depending on the source, you could also simply add the tracking parameters directly to the end of the redirect URL.
For example if you were trying to track an organic source, simply get the redirect URL such as “https://l-qa.hyros.com/NGUQvEn404” and add “?el=yoursourcename” directly in front of the URL, so it would look like this:
https://l-qa.hyros.com/NGUQvEn404?el=yoursourcename
The redirect URL works in exactly the same way as your regular URL would on any source.
If you you then click on that redirect URL, you should be redirected to the following URL:
https://www.hyros.com/optin?el=yoursourcename
You can choose from the following guides depending on what you are looking to track, to better understand how to add your tracking parameters to each source:
Step 4 – Test your links
As each source type is different, please test the sources following the guides linked to in the last section.
When testing you should be redirected to your final URL, and you should see the UTMs cleanly attached like this:
https://www.hyros.com/optin?el=yoursourcename
If you do not see the the URL with the Hyros tracking parameters clearly attached or it is attached but not cleanly, then it may not have been added correctly.
Please check the appropriate guide again depending on the source you’d like to track, and reach out to support if you need any further assistance.
